Hi Guys,
I'm still on vacation in the land of sun and salt water, Bermuda. We, Robin and I, are having a great time visiting family, going to the beach and sleeping in the warm breezes. All of that is great, but honey, it is some kind of HOTT around here. You would never guess I grew up here. Clearly my body has acclimated to being in constant air conditioning. I'm not complaining, mind you, but I did need to take the heat into consideration when I packed for vacation this year.
Apart from the normal things one would need for a vacation in the sun like a hat and sun screen I needed to bring a few other items. Let's take a peek inside the bag:
- The Bag itself. I tend to over pack so I have learned to create a limit by only packing what can fit in my gym bag.
- Sneakers: Even though I
on vacation half'm training must continue.mary - Reflective Vest: Since the only reasonable temperature to run in is at the break of day I felt it was important for me to be safe so I packed my vest.
- Heart Rate Monitor: The change of climate always affects me so one of the ways I try to monitor my expenditure is with the heart rate monitor.
- Stretch Band: As I'm sure you remember all the problems I'm having with my hips and hamstrings during this training so I bought my stretch band to help me along.
- Oops!
- Head Phones: truly old walk-man style and decrepit that I have had since the turn of time. Only one ear works, but why I don't throw them away I don't know.
HolderiPhone - Weight Gloves: I'm doing Kettlebells for strength training while I'm here.
- Phone Clip: I love this thing. It is so versatile and far easier to use than the arm band phone holder.
- Fanny Pack: Let me not be shy about it. Yes, I have developed a liking for the fanny pack since I started training for this half marathon. Honestly, we need a little more when we are running those distances and this has been the most convenient way for me.
- Rash Guard: The sun and I don't get along well and I can't stand sun block. This rash guard is the middle ground for me. Kayaking and Paddle Boarding this week! Can't wait.
- Camelbak: Since you know I"m always on the edge of dehydration I figured I better bring this puppy along for those long runs.
14. And last but least my new lover and bestie Foam Roller. Never leave home without it.
Here is a pic I took along my long run this week. Stopping to enjoy the scenery helps with the distance.

My vacation exercise is ... running around after my kids. :)
ReplyDeleteLol, right! That is enough exercise right there.
DeleteUsually my vacations are centered around a running event, so yes, I keep it up while vacationing. Though after the race I really enjoy my recovery :-)
ReplyDeleteExercise makes me feel better, so yes, I exercise on vacation.
ReplyDeleteI like running clothes with lots of pockets. That way I only need something around my waist in the actual race & that's just so I don't have to put pins in my nice running clothes.
I take The Stick, rather than the foam roller, because it's smaller.
And a mini first aid kit.Came in handy when I fell not once, but twice during a long run on vacation last year.
We love using rashguards too. You never have to worry about the sticky sunscreen on the top half of your body. I'd have thought about a reflective vest- great idea!
ReplyDeletewow, that's a lot of stuff! very cool indeed!
ReplyDeleteLove Bermuda! I didn't get a chance to run there, but I wish I did. It's so beautiful! Thanks for linking up!
ReplyDeletegreat idea - when i've traveled in the past - it's always been about what's in the hotel minibar :D
ReplyDeleteGlad you are having such a good time. I always make sure to pack my little spibelt too. Nice to have it for keys, etc.
ReplyDeleteooh I've never been to Bermuda even though it's right off the coast of Virginia really. Looks beautiful hope you have a great time. You are well prepared
ReplyDeleteMost of my vacations are racecations, so I always have running stuff. If not, I would definitely pack my gear to go for a run or get a workout in. Enjoy beautiful Bermuda!
ReplyDeleteDo I continue to work-out on vacation? Yes! Absolutely. Call me weird, but that's half the fun. I love to run! (I do have a hard time convincing someone to exercise with me usually, though.
ReplyDeleteI've been known to pack my foam roller as well. People think I'm crazy, but you have to do what you have to do.
ReplyDeleteMy workouts consist of walking around. Especially on vacation.
ReplyDeleteI love walking and exploring on foot when I'm vacationing. I love that you packed your foam roller :)
ReplyDeleteYou are packed for success! It may not be the exact same workouts I do at home but I make it a priority to move on vacation.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing with Fitness Friday and have a fantastic weekend!
Catching up on Fit Friday posts…you packed very thoroughly for your workouts! You definitely came prepared and ready to work!
ReplyDeleteYour list should be kept as a checklist for vacations.
ReplyDeleteWhen I'm on vacation, I stay very active sightseeing, walking and taking a class here and there but, the focus is solidly the vacation. Bermuda is so beautiful and so it makes sense to do what you are doing... Plus, you are home!
ReplyDeleteSeriously jealous that you are in Aruba! So beautiful! I very rarely travel, so I wouldn't even know where to start, so this is a great list to hand on to!
ReplyDeleteI always run on vacation. I have a mini trigger point roller which fits nicely in my suitcase! It's hollow, so I can put stuff inside of it as well.
ReplyDeleteBermuda looks incredible!! I always run while on vacation - it's a great way to explore a new place. You've got some great items in your bag! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea! Wow the pictures look wonderful. I particularly would need the rash guard.
ReplyDeleteI feel like we never go anywhere without our gym bags and our foam rollar! If you're in the market for new headphones you should try yurbuds, I love them and they come in super fun colors.
ReplyDeletearen't the foam rollers the best?
ReplyDeleteI love that you're consistent while on vacay! Me?! I look for any and every excuse to skip out on working out! Smh! Great work and thanks for the motivation and inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI always have such a hard time staying true to my fitness routine when I'm on vacation! More power to you for being able to stick with it!
ReplyDeleteI always admire people who work out while on vacation. I don't bring workout clothes on mine but I walk more than I do in my everyday life. I love gong to Miami and New York and I walk and walk and walk some more. That has got to be aerobically effective.
ReplyDeleteI do fitness and practice my faith daily. I will admit, spending time with Jesus is my challenge because if I don't visit Him one-on-one in the a.m., I tend to put other things ahead during the day. Some days are better than others. Enjoy your trip and congrats on your feature at Mommy Monday.
ReplyDeletewhat a great idea to pack an exercise bag for vacation. I should do that for next time. Stopping by from the #MommyMondayBlogHop
ReplyDeleteYou are so inspiring. I love your dedication. I have not often worked out during vacation.
ReplyDeleteI tend to work out more while on vacation. My friends and I are normally exercising at least some part of the vacation.
ReplyDeleteI guess the main takeaway from this post is to pack a gym bag for my vacations. I always bring gym clothes are rarely make it to the hotel gym.
ReplyDeleteAwesome post! Ive heard so many good things about the foam rollers…will have to check them out!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, I am jealous your in Bermuda!! It's on my bucketlist:) Enjoy your tropical vacation!
ReplyDeleteGreat packing list too! My absolute favorite thing to do on vacation is go running daily, no better way to see a new place then on foot!
That is so cool that you're able to stay consistent with your fitness activities while on vacation.
ReplyDeleteWow, this is awesome! Thanks so much for sharing! There are definitely a few things I'll take into consideration when I pack for my upcoming vacation :)
ReplyDeleteOh Bermuda..lovely and I have to look for one of those phone clips because those arm bands do get in my way sometimes.
